Refused Life Assurance

Hi there
I applied online to Beagle Street (whoever they are?) for life assuarnce for myself. I was refused! I did have cover up until a few years ago when I stupidly let it lapse. I have a mortgage with 20 years left on it and a value of £80,000. I am a single mother and have a 13 year old son. I am very worried that should something fatal happen to me, I would be leaving him nothing.
I had self diagnosed health issues such as mild depression and over drinking after a family death, and was worried I had polysystic ovaries (I got checked and I dont) I went to my doctor with all these things!!! Wish I hadn't. He wasn't much help anyway.
Im 44 and gave up smoking on 4th January.
Please can anyone tell me if they think I can get life assurance and where best to go?

If you have been to the doctors then they arent self diagnosed any more. Presumably you declared the problems you did have and the investigations into PCOS?
You are better off either finding a local IFA or a protection insurance broker0 -
Beagle Street is the "pet" life assurance arm of BISL/Compare The Market.
As II said, you would be better off seeking professional advice.
You are classed as a smoker until you've been given up for twelve month and can declare you do not intend to smoke again.
Precious medical history and height/weight or BMI ratio can also see you rated, postponed or declined cover.I am a mortgage broker. Go and see a broker - this should be possible to obtain depending on how serious the conditions were. Any decent mortgage/fianancial advisor will be able to help here.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. You need to speak to a proper whole of market broker. Most web based life insurance businesses are based around standard applicants with little to no health conditions or special circumstances. Depending on you previous conditions it may still be possible to get cover. A proper broker will get your details and discuss it with underwriters before submitting the application.
