Lets say i will open santander 123 current account (i need it JUST to get their 3% fixed ISA rate for 2 years, which is a brilliant rate at the moment which allows transfers in as well!)... so, correct me if im worng, but here i think how it can work then:
1. i can pay in 500£ a months just by transfering money forwards and backwards from my halifax current account
2. I can set up first DD by opening esaver with santander and transfering every month like couple of pounds using DD. and i can do it as well backwards and forwards too right?
3. I can set up second required DD by sending couple of pounds on my online saver account at halifax. and i can do it over and over again by using the same couple of pounds transfering back and forth?
is my assumptions correct? if thats how it works, i definately will do it![/QUOTE]In a nutshell, yes - - though I would probably not use a Santander esaver DD to fee a Santander 123 - - - - looks too much like taking the proverbial. You have plenty of other choices - - Tesco probably being one of the most easiest. If you then have a Halifax, you are done.
Though it sounds a great shame not to get any cashback for DDs...are you sure you have absolutely no qualifying ones?
If that is truly the case, then may be you'd do better with the CC. That is, if you would spend anything that attracts cashback, lol..............

Your most welcome.
In your letter - if you haven't already sent it, state the date and time you and your hubby spoke to their rep and their name if you have it, as ALL THEIR CALLS ARE RECORDED, and you should not be afraid to mention that you know this and they should be able to track this.
For speed, you should send an email, if possible!
Good luck, do let me know how you get on! x
Hiya - Well I'm very happy to report that they called me back this afternoon to say that having listened to my call they were satisfied their adviser did not adequately explain all the options to me, nor the risk that the product might be withdrawn if I followed the course of action which he recommended - ie to wait until my existing rate dropped before opening the 2.5% ISA, which is what I did. They have upgraded my account to 2.5%.
This all happened last Thursday, after I complained to them via social media, and then resolved today. I do feel that raising issues in a very public way like this - rightly or wrongly - does focus the attention of big companies, when reputation management is perceived to be everything. Not saying of course that it's always going to get the right outcome but got to be worth a try.
Thanks again for your help though - it definitely gave me ammunition when I talked to them about my case.
Cheers :A

I did 3 isa transfers from Halifax to Satander. I got three letters from Halifax to confirm its gone through with info on how much. Unfortunately I made a mistake on my wife's account and selected June instead f May in pull down menu so we cant access her isa account online. I rang Satander late March and asked why it hasn't been linked to our joint account as mine has. They said it may be because of the mistake and to sort it she need to go to local branch with ID. So we both go in on 31st March. By 11th April it still was not showing so we rang them and they said it take 2 days to show. Well now 16th April still no show. She has again been told to go to local branch with ID again as they cant sort it out over phone0

Jeesh I called them on Easter Saturday to move my existing ISDA to 2.5% rate, they said they were inundated with calls and booked me a call back rather than serving me which I missed. After varoius other attempts to get through in the following 2 weeks I did so today to be told abotut he rate drop. Not pleased, according to their standard opening hours they should have been open and available for business on the Saturday when I first called them
Not sure about the 2yr fix so my money is going elsewhere, looks like FD as I already have accounts with them.
As per post #391, COMPLAIN to Santander in writing/email quoting dates, times and names if you have them of the person you spoke to and that they robbed you off because they were understaffed and failed to call back as agreed!

Yes, unfortunately it seems that we are no longer able to get any basic customer service skills from companies these days without complaining!
& then people wonder why we are notorious for moaning :rotfl:TARGET Deposit for my 1st house!:A NEED£30k:eek: WANT£45k GOT 1stDRegSaver:£1200@ 6% GROSS 1/10/15||SantanderISA:£11,820.41 @ 2.30% 16/04/16| Newcastle BS ISA:£15,149.80 @ 3.02%|Santander123 Cashback earnings: £274.48|TotalCashSavings:£32,302|Last Update:22/2/15:T

....unfortunately it seems that we are no longer able to get any basic customer service skills from companies these days without complaining!.....
That's a bit of a sweeping statement............I agree, we hear a lot more about bad experiences than about good ones. But that's just normal human behaviour. A negative experience often causes hassle, and people are often looking for help. Many then turn to internet forums for help. Very very few people go on the internet to say they had brilliant, or good, CS.
I still think bad CS is the exception. This isn't to say that bad service is acceptable - - I know from personal experience that if things go bad, they can go bad beyond belief. But we have brilliant consumer protection schemes, and complaints usually help to get us our rights.0 -
I have opened Santanders major 2 year fixed isa.
I was under the impression that we can make deposits until 30th May. however the email I've had to confirm the account opening, says I can't make any desposits after 14 days
Could anyone clarify please?Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -
The email seems wrong. I'd get on the phone to them immediately - - there is an 0800 number on their fact sheet: http://www.santander.co.uk/csgs/StaticBS?blobcol=urldata&blobheader=application%2Fpdf&blobkey=id&blobtable=MungoBlobs&blobwhere=1223430780770&cachecontrol=immediate&ssbinary=true&maxage=3600
I would ask them to confirm in writing that their email was wrong and that the information on the web prevails. Whoever sent the email should have their knuckles rapped.0 -
I think isa transfer requests must be made within 14 days0
-
That's correct, but RoxRoxBling was talking about making deposits.0
