Manage to get the transfer over after a lot of annoyance!
Me: Hello, i need to transfer over £5760 into my 2 year fixed rate major ISA from my 123 current account. I have tried numerous times using telephone banking and BACs transfers from other accounts but everytime I get an error saying "process cannot be requested, please try again later.
Lady: You cannot put money in now because it has been over 14 days since the account opened.
Me: I know that is the case now, but ive been trying the last 2 weeks and that was still the case. Your system clearly isnt working so how was I meant to be able to put the money in?
Lady: I'm sorry but I dont understand, you could have paid by cheque or cash too
Me: I dont have a cheque book, if I registered for one it would take more than 7 days to come and I dotn fancy walking across town with £6,000 in my pocket.
Lady: It has been over 14 days.
Me: Can I speak to your manager, you dont really seem to understand this
After I got put through, the manager said that there was a block on my account for some reason one of my forms didnt get processed and she has unblocked it now and transfered the money over, so its all working again. Santander are the only bank that I find a real pain in the !!!!.
In terms of help and ease it goes:
1) First Direct - Amazingly helpful, pickup straight away, no strange accents that I cant understand, go above and beyond call of duty and explain everything well.
2) Lloyds - Perfect
3) Nationwide
4) Halifax - Typos all over their documents they sent me, very slow and getting back and forth
5) Santander - useless.
Goodjob I shouldnt have to speak to them again for 2 years.0 -
Just adding to the Quidco debate I have used my account for years and not really had major problems but my 123 credit card didn't pay out. It showed straight away but there was no cashback about showing however the note said something like no cashback showing don't worry it will.
I had to manually enter the roll number (can't remember the exact term which I did) then I waited about 6 months before I chased it. They asked asked for ref again which I after a lot of hassle got. Only for Santander to turn it down as I had taken too long to chase it. It was only £15 but I did nothing wrong just followed there notes saying don't worry it will show eventually.
Did one for my DH 6 months after mine and it tracked.
Just banked my redundancy cheque got sold the 123 account I said I can just upgrade online but she pushed for me to go into branch. I do hope I can open the 123 major isa online or I shall do in by phone.Save £12k in 25 No 49

It had to be done via a bill payment rather than a transfer.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -

I wasnt complaining about the interest rates. I was complaining about the !!!!!! customer service, something that I unfortunately have to put up with if I want the better interest rates in this case.
And you don't think as Innovate was implying that there might be some connection between how much a bank spends on customer service and how much it can afford to pay in interest?I think....0 -

i registered with quidco and opened online 123 santander current account, with 55£ cash back (hopefully). Of course i cleared all cookies on my computer before that.
Today got mail that my application was successful and i will get in a few days my bank account details.
One question though, on my quidco account, its tracked, so everything looks all right. But when i registereing on quidco i need to choose where to receive a cashback, choice to use paypal ( up to 25£ per payment) and BACS (free)
question about BACS payment, so all i need to do there just to put my account number and sort code of my current account (halifax) and my name, and thats it?
thank you.0 -

I phoned Santander 3/4 times. Could not get through as they were too busy. So they arranged to call me on Sunday, so they did. And then their was a problem: he was about to transfer me to another department and my initial aim of the call was not being met. So I expressed my disappointment. And he was willing to log the call as dissatisfactory. But then he took extra time to explain as to why my account hadn't been opened and additional details. And what I could do to progress it further.
So even though I had a moment of disappointment, Santander were willing to take extra time to explain the situation, and he knew exactly what the problem was, which he also explained to the department who could fix it.Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -
There's talk of the rate dropping below 2.50% on Monday. Basically, do I have to fund the account before then, or have I secured that rate having applied before the new rate kicks in?
No, not transferring in from an external ISA, but funding from an external source. The only other options are:
- cheque in my own name
- transfer from Santander savings or current account
Which should it have been in my situation?
Jeesh I called them on Easter Saturday to move my existing ISDA to 2.5% rate, they said they were inundated with calls and booked me a call back rather than serving me which I missed. After varoius other attempts to get through in the following 2 weeks I did so today to be told abotut he rate drop. Not pleased, according to their standard opening hours they should have been open and available for business on the Saturday when I first called them
Not sure about the 2yr fix so my money is going elsewhere, looks like FD as I already have accounts with them.I think....0 -
Thanks MissyD for your helpful reply. No, he didn't say anything to me about the possibility of opening at that point to get 2.5% rate but delaying transfer. Nor did he mention it to my husband, whom he spoke to straight after speaking to me. Which makes me all the more suspicious that it was not mentioned deliberately? But in any event thanks for replying, and I shall do as you suggest. I complained to them publicly via social media last night, as it was too late to call them, so I shall see what response if any I get from that today, then I shall follow up with call and letter. Will report back.
Thanks,
Saz x
Your most welcome.
In your letter - if you haven't already sent it, state the date and time you and your hubby spoke to their rep and their name if you have it, as ALL THEIR CALLS ARE RECORDED, and you should not be afraid to mention that you know this and they should be able to track this.
For speed, you should send an email, if possible!
