    Just looking at my letter for my 123 Exclusive Major ISA account (also pending a delayed transfer in which Santander coked up), subscriptions can be by:
    • From an exiating Santander account that is already registered for Telephone Banking - simply call and quote sort code and account number;
    • By cash or cheque at your local branch;
    • From another bank account - contact your bank and request a bill payment quoting the sort code and account number.
    Best ask Santander why it wasn't accepted.
    Tried option 3 with no luck, it just bounced back to my back.

    Tried option 1 just now and had the "Sorry the process you have requested cannot be completed at this moment in time, please try again later" tried again 2 hours later, even with smaller amounts and no luck.

    Sent them a secure message to see what the hell is wrong with it and failing a response to that by monday, I will go into branch and ask them and see if they can transfer it from my 123 current to ISA account there.

    A DD that earns cashback at Santander is wasted at Halifax.

    Halifax doesn't pay cashback, so any old DD will do (such as a DD to Tesco Savings).

    ok i just logged in to my HSBC bank account, and tried to set up a direct debit from halifax (to replace my phone bill dd that will go to santander 123 account) and ive got this:

    "You are unable to set up a Direct Debit up using Personal Internet Banking, Direct Debits are set up with the organisation you are paying."

    is that means i have to go to the HSBC branch and ask them to arrange one DD from my halifax current account to HSBC bank account (or to savings account with laughable 0.25% AER) and they will do that?
    but how they going to set the amount? coz DD amount is decided by the organisation where money going (HSBC in my case) ? im not quite understand how it works

    ...hehe 0.63£ savings per month, oh well :j

    little acorns and such stuff....

    If you manage the 63p, you just need another £1.37 a month to eliminate the monthly charge

    Have you tried calling the ISA team?

    Their 0800 number seems to have vanished from their website but you should be able to find it here or on saynoto0870.com

    You cannot ever set up any direct debit to transfer money from your current account A to your current account B.

    You can set up a Direct Debit for a limited number of savings accounts to transfer money from your current account(s) to your savings account(s).

    You can pay bills to companies by Direct Debit, if the companies offer DDs.
    If you wish to change an existing DD to a company, you got to tell them (e.g. your phone provider) what new sort code and account number they should be taking the Direct Debit from.

    I could really do with knowing too. I've got £40K+ to shift, £30K of which is in a Halifax Reward ISA that comes off the introductory rate tomorrow.

    I'm holding out until Santander announce because opening the First Direct 3% is potentially a bit of a faff for me and it would be lovely if Santander matched them but I'm not really expecting them to offer as much as £3% on transfers-in.

    Fingers crossed some kind Santander employee will read the poster at work tomorrow and put us out of our misery!

    Hi,
    I have £20k in a the 123 current account which pays 3% gross; it is a joint account and as my wife does not earn enough for IR tax the 20% interest deduction only applies to 50% of the total interest earned. I am getting close to 2.7% interest paid. Cannot get any ISA this year to approach that return. (At my age I don't want long lock-ins).

    For your first post that makes a lot of sense! Welcome to the Forum.

    No, that's an expensive 0845 number.

    Try 0800 3899875. That number has been mentioned in this thread before.
