The precise reason I'd rather deal online or in branch.

Should I just fill in the form, or is it worth a wee phone call?

Might not be a bad idea to get to the bottom as to why your details have apparently been matched with someone else's details before you put any money into this account.

I haven't read the whole thread, so don't know if anyone has had problems with Santander recently. However, I recently opened a 123 account online with no problems.
I rang them this morning about opening an ISA for the current year and asking about also depositing next years allowance and what was the best way forward.

For anyone calling Santander don't use the 0845 number. Here is a free phone call that I used this morning, it gets you through direct to an advisor. 0800 3899875. I found it on the No 0870 Numbers site.
I'm pleased that I used it as I was on the phone for 50 minutes sorting out transferring ISA and several old savings accounts. I even pulled the phone off the table at one point and they called me back immediately.

  • I'm going to go with the instant ISA 2.5%.
Has it been straight forward for you guys who have signed up for a current account and opening the ISA online?

My OH and I have two ISA's with Santander Bonus Ends on 24th April paying 3.30%. So I have just phoned them up and they confirmed what I read on their site:

Minimum opening deposit of £2,500. Save up to the annual cash ISA limit. You can open the account with a zero balance if you are transferring in existing cash ISAs (min £2,500).

It seems that I can open with a Zero Balance, thus making sure I have the account ready with them, then ask them to transfer funds on 25th April to their 2.5% ISA. Not sure if it is worth .03% to tie up for 2 years with their 2.8% ISA

This then leaves me free to use my 2013/2014 ISA Allowance.

Note: Thanks for the 0800 3899875 number

Can anyone explain to me this bit:
Deposits for 2012/13 tax year can be made up to and including 5 April 2013 and deposits for 2013/14 tax year can be made up to and including 30 May 2013. No subsequent additional deposits.

It's the ISA account for 123 current account holders.

So does this mean I must put my ~£5000 in the (2013-14) ISA account by the 30th of May? Then I can't put anymore in the account and it's stuck there for two years?

    Thanks

It's probably been asked but how do I go about transferring to these? I have to fill in and send a form? In which case where do I get the form?

Can I quickly check something please, I have applied for a123 account and will be looking at transferring my Halifax Isa when it maturesto a 123 Isa at 3%. From what i read it is a guaranteed 2 year rate, does thismean that it doesn’t receive any interest until the 2-years is up or do theyapply interest annually?

    Hi All

Just used the freephone number and set up this years allowance on the 2.5% deal and fully funded it in 20 mins, ( i have locked in ones with them ending in July and hope to consolidate the lot on a better rate later) . Great adviser on the other end sorted it out smoothly.

I did already had a 123 account but still not bad for a bank.
