wheel width went from 175 to 205 - fuel efficiency went down.

actually that's understated a bit. I was trying to even out the weather variation - the actual drop is lower - I jsut had the A/C on a lot because my windows would get fogged up and obvious the engine hard a harder time getting to optimal temps in the cold which reduced fuel efficiency. Embedded the actual stats below. it fluctuartes a lot - I put the alloys on mid Jan and the fuel consumption dropped like a pancake - but I did also use the stupid redex fuel system cleaner which messed up my fuel system I think.

I don't suppose anyone has thought the temperature might have effected the calcs at all ...

or the gritting of the roads - weather in general as to style of driving ?

It could be a myriad of things altering the fuel returns ...

It's the revrsing back and forward in the box junction that's done it.

There is slightly more rolling resistance, and also more aerodynamic drag. Special eco models usually have narrower tyres, for example 145 wide on the Audi A2 and VW Lupo 3L.

205 tyres are wider than 175's. Wider wheels generally = more rolling resistance = higher fuel consumption.

    Simples

    Did anyone study the graphs?

The Op starts off by saying

There's been a noticeable difference in mpg - dropped by 1 I think

Perhaps just accept that you and cars do not mix and get a bike instead?

It'll make the Motoring Section of the forum a quieter place :)

Not the most accurate basis for a fuel comparison!.
