Monday 4th March - What small DFW things will you do today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning everyone! :wave: hope you all had a good weekend! It was a really lazy one for me, if I do nothing I spend nothing so all good :p I start college this week so thought I would make the most of my weekends without studying!

Ok, quick list for today:
• Check bank, not expecting anything to come out today
• Check app
• Lunch from home
• Stay in at lunch
• NSD
• Put washing away
• Quick tidy
• Make lunch for tomorrow
• Get college stuff ready (don't start til wed but am busy tomorrow night)

Can't think of anything now so will update later xx

• Morning bt1 thanks for starting us off. Yay to Monday! But it looks like a spring morning out of the window so that's something eh? And after today's done with I never think the week is that bad!

My thing for the day -

* all meals from stores
* checked banking & cc payment date
* go into town in lunch break and get an interview top
* do some research for interview on Weds
* print off some things for interviews
* buy a pad in town from pound shop
* clean my car after work
* go to sewing tonight
* check onepoll
* quick shower
* hang up washing & do another load

Ok think that's all I have time for as interview stuff is going to take up most of my spare time.

Have a great day everyone x

Registering for 2,000 Nectar points after buying my car insurance from Confused.com (same price as on Go Compare and Comparethemarket). Think this is only worth £10 but better than nothing.

Registering for free Equifax report via Quidco to get cashback. Have not checked Equifax in a few years whereas I check Experian once a year.

Wanted to buy some Pie Minister pies. Ocado has the full range at 'buy 2, get third free'. So will be ordering 6 from them so we have one meal's worth in the fridge and two more meals in the freezer. Ocado are doing £25 off your first £100 spend so going to see if we can make this work by ordering £100 worth of food and stock up on household essentials (loo roll etc). If I feel the cost is not worth paying or we cannot get to £100 then will just order the pies.

Hi everyone :wave:

Today I'm going to try to find ways of making extra money to pay off the debt. The further down the DFW-path I walk the harder it gets as I've used up lots of offers already! So far I've:

:female: Searched Kelkoo for 1p on TopCashBack and on Quidco. (Link) (Link)

:female: Searched Fly.com for 5p on TopCashBack.

:female: Quoted for Home Ins through GoCompare for £1.51 on TopCashBack.

:female: Ordered a Catalink catalogue for 40p on TopCashBack.

£1.98 before breakfast; not bad!

:female: OH wants to browse Ikea so we'll get free coffee there with our free Ikea Family card. (Link) Might sneak in a couple of biscuits to go with it. ;)Done.

:female: Quidco check-in at shops on mobile App as we walk through the shopping centre to earn money spend-free. (Link) Earned £1.25 and spent nothing!

:female: Earned 21 Nectar Points using Nectar Search so far this month. (Link)

:female: Earned 48 Nectar Points using Nectar AdPoints so far this week. (Link)

:female: OH is making coleslaw with discounted carrot and cabbage, using the electric meat slicer.

:female: Mushrooms are starting to grow.

:female: Done OnePoll. It's taking forever to earn this £40. Once I've got that £40 I won't be doing anymore with them.

:female: Need to get OH to do Swagbucks. Really close to getting a voucher. We won't be doing anymore with them either.

:female: OHs mobile bill is going up by 51p a month. Sign-up to pay by Direct Debit to save £3.58 a month. I've been resisting doing this for months, but as, almost everything, is now set-up by Direct Debit I might as well add this one to it.

morning

the only reaon I'm glad it's monday is because my hangover has gone! although I still feel rubbish - I just can't drink anymore! In future, any time I'm tempted I'm going to remember how I felt yesterday!

dnms - I agree, monday's are the worst, and I always feel more positive once it's tuesday.

I'm hating work at the moment so am just going to shut my door and get on with my work and not speak to anyone!

today however, I've taken stuff out the freezer for lunch and dinner and last night although I really fancied a take away I talked myself out of it and cooked something out of the freezer - I'm clearly getting better at this, now if I could just get better at not drinking........!

I'm working till 2pm....yay! I'm self employed to the more the better. I must try and finish digging over my nettle...sorry veg patch ready for spuds, which I'm going to place a wanted for on freecycle in case anyone has spare seeds pots, you never know

Also, have to think of many ways to use up a chicken that I took out of the freezer and roasted yesterday. There's only me here so should last me a while, just need to be inventive so I don't get fed up with it and give the dogs it for a treat :eek:

I registered on the free postcode thing I kept seeing all of you mention, so will get into habit of checking that daily too

Hi All

Thanks for the tips Ally
Zenshi when is the best time to plant seed potatoes? I am going to have a bash this year, they are so expensive to buy in the shops, even the market now.

Monday so its my day off but busy day planned:-

Shopping this morning at Aldi Lidl and B and M Bargains (did not go at the weekend so its shopping for the week)
Get new supply of birdfood from local corn mill
Housework and ironing
Watch a film this afternoon
Quick swim (before the film)
Walk dog locally

Thats it for today x
