What OS is on the unit?
If it is Linux variant , then look for an app on the machine called cheese, this will activate the camera.
Or use the instant messaging service pigin that should also activate the camera.

I tried Jolicloud, which is based on some version of linux (ubuntu I think), and supposedly best suited to low powered netbooks.

Its crap, incredibly slow compared to XP. Shame, as I really wanted to like it.

MSI is a good brand, I find.
