Gym membership issues...(that ol' chestnut)..

Hello,
I joined a gym last September - through the Club Company - and about two weeks after i had my induction, i became quite ill with pleurisy and despite attemtping to contact the gym manager, i was unable to attend. it was a 12 month contract and i paid the next couple of months installments anyway. Prior to me even getting ill, they sent me a promotional email offering no 12 month contracts for previous members, who had completed 12 months, which i was eligible for. They are still running this promotion and due to ongoing health problems, i can't go back for some time.
They have now sent me a bill for the whole remaining amount and i am thinking that this contract i was offered was mis-sold.
Anyone else had a similar experience? No one ever got back to me about my situation.
Thanks.

You signed up to a specific contract you will need to read the terms and conditions, offers change all the time so IMO that is a red herring. Have you just stopped attending and stopped paying? Or have you posted in a copy of a doctor's letter/ sick certificate/ other proof and asked for the membership to be cancelled or suspended depending on the club or chain policy?
What does 'attempted to contact the gym manager' mean? What have you actually done and what evidence do you have? Was the gym manager the right person to speak to according to club/ chain policy - sometimes it's the centre manager, sometime the membership manager, sometimes head office but rarely the fitness (gym) manager?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
