Car Insurance - Write off query

Basically I was driven into from behind whilst stationery at a roundabout giving way to on coming traffic, luckily no one was hurt apart from whiplash. But my car has been declared a write off at costing £1900 to repair. It is a vauxhall corsa on a V plate. I am concerned that the insurance company will offer me silly money to the value of my vehicle and that I won't be able to afford to replace my car, I am an undischarged bankrupt and therefore money is very tight so I am depending upon the insurance company to give me sensible money in order for me to replace my vehicle, which was damaged through no fault of my own. I am finding this whole situation very stressful and just want a quick solution, any tips on how to negotiate to get the best price possible would be much appreciated asap.

BTW the car is being taken away on Tuesday by a company instructed by my insurers and I am receiving a hire car which is to be paid for by the other side.

I can imagine a v reg corsa is not going to get you very much at all. See what offer they come back with and in the meantime have a look for cars similar to yours in condition and mileage and if they offer less than you can use those adverts as proof that it would cost more to replace your car like for like than what they are offering. Remember though that the price cars are advertised for usually sell for abit less.

£600 my guess for a v reg corsa, also take it your claiming whipcash dont forget you need to inform the OR
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • Thanks for the advice, I'm finding this more stressful than dealing with the OR!!
