IB ceasing for 60 year old - help please

I am confused as to what happens when I get to 60 next month. I have been on Incapacity Benefit since 1996 and also receive DLA at the higher rate mobility and middle rate care allowance. Now I understand that my IB will cease the day before I am 60 but the problem for me is my pension will only be about £65 a week whereas my IB was £85pw. Can any one tell me will I lose out or is there some extra that I should claim? Since I have a husband working I do not think I will be able to receive any IS but I certainly am not happy about losing £20 pw and value the independance my income brings. I have not got a full pension because I relied on my first husband's stamps - he was the same age as me. Now I am married to a man 7 years younger so it will be a long time until he's 65. Help please.

You should be eligible for Pension Credit:
http://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/pensioncredit/
You can apply up to four months before your 60th birthday.
(I don't understand, why you haven't received an application pack.)0 -
Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Thanks everyone. I don't think I will be entitled to any means tested benefits because my husband is working. I like to be able to pay my own way but it seems that at 60 I will have to be dependant on my husband. I, mistakenly, thought that the Incapacity Benefit carried on to 65 so it was a bit of a shock to me to have to accept my pension when I feel so young at heart. Many thanks Moneysavers for your advice. Cat Woman0
