working tax credits

ill try to make this easy as im confused my self
i have 3 children i get child tax credits for
and i get housing beneift forthe house i rent from private landlord
i just came of JSA as im due to start work 4th march
i made a claimfor working tax credit and i got a letter on saturday
which states i get £165 per week for child tax credits but im not entilited to working tax credit
i will be working 18 hours and bring home £111.20 gross a week
i was told by the DWP if i go a job and caimed workingtax credits i woudnt come under the new benfit cap in april as working tax makes to expemt
but now they telling me im not getting WTC im so worried and cant ring them until monday
i have done assments on the direct.gov turn2 us and the HMCR website and thet allsay i should be getting £74 per week working tax credit
dose anyone else no about this

Your award at the moment is purely based on your current situation. Do they know the date that you are starting work?
Assuming you to be a single parent of 3, then your gross income for this year working would be approx £556 in wages + £825 for CTC and whatever JSA you claimed. Oh and whatever the amount of CTC previously paid. Are you over 25 years old? If yes and you are single, then yes you would get some WTC, but they might not pay that yet simply because we are getting near to the end of the tax year and so it will all get sorted out when you get the renewal pack and tell them your income details at that time. When did you tell the Tax Credits helpline?

hi i told them a week ago as they said i can do claim 7 days before starting work
i said i start work on 4th
and i gave them the dtails of my new job
the man did confuse me a bit he said how much have i earnt from 3/3/13 til 4/4/13 i said nothing then he said how muvh will you earn so i said £111.20 per week gross
its so confusing
i did a caluation on here Direct.gov turn2us and hmrc website they all say the same i should be sgetting £165 CTC which i do

The online calculator cannot cope with someone about to begin work so you need to answer its questions as though you've already started. Despite this glitch its prediction for me turned out to be accurate.0
