My local county council has launched this consultation to help deliver better services to people with autism or those supporting those living with it.

How can you be clear about what Autism is after stating it is a spectrum disorder? Autism varies from calmly collecting light bulbs, to the enjoyment of flashing lights, to wanting to kill someone. It cannot be categorised to give a clear meaning at all! Autism is specific to the individual.
“Though there are some shared characteristics of the lifelong disability, it is a spectrum condition. Being clear about what we mean by autism is an important first step in developing the new Warwickshire strategy.”~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -

Totally agree.
i have a son who is now 25 and who is on the server end of the Autism spectrum disorder, he also has server learning disabilities and behaviour problems. There is no one way of coping with it. I have been to many meetings and answered so many questionaires I couldn't even count, and every result is the same thing, there is no two people with autism the same. Even at his special school each pupil in his class had their own day to day things to do.
Even now he goes to a day centre for adults with learning disabilities and each one has his or her chart on the wall as to what they can and don't like doing. I know it takes time but each year every pupil and adult who has a diagnosis of being on the ASD in the County has an individual assessment and unfortunately I personally believe that is the only way to do it.
That of course is only my opinion and I am not a professional just a parent.0 -

More pressing concerns are the doctors being paid by the state to remove the diagnosis of autism to save money. This puts the autistic individual in grave danger of being imprisoned rather than hospitalised when they have tantrums.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -
Well most things are on a spectrum really, running from mild to severe. At least this council is trying.0

Some autistic people can be extremely violent when encountering change while others will just ignore it. To me it is very important that they are treated as individuals.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -

I was interested in reading the survey but it seems both the links to the survey are for children. Have they made a mistake, or am I reading things wrong?0

every council in the country has been given £35K to develop an autism strategy for their region.0

I am reporting a hospital on Monday for sever isolation, non communication and no physical exercise for its patients. The patients are just yelled at and told to get back in their rooms when they wonder out and try to communicate. The staff sit around doing coursework, watching TV, drinking coffee and sending text messages all day. When a patient becomes upset by the lack of communication they sit on them and drug them. I am utterly disgusted.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0
