Just had an accident advice needed please

On my way to work last night I had an accident, a man in his car pulled out of his driveway and hit me (a new panel is required and possibly a new Tyre, estimated cost £2000). He admitted he hadn't seen me and admitted liability. My husband has told me to go through his insurers instead of mine, but I am unsure. I have notified my insurers but not started the process of a claim because I do not want my premium to rise. I would be very grateful for some advice please.
If you don't ask, you don't get! ;)

I take it you have taken some details from him, eg his insurer and his registration details, always a good idea to take some pictures at the scene at the time (if you have a mobile phone, use the geotag feature too).

As an aside was he reversing off the drive?
Oh and your insurance premium maybe affected even if you alert them of for notification purposes only :o

I have all his details and the name of his insurers, I also got photos,. He was not reversing .
Bu...r didn't know that just informing them may affect my premium, I thought you had to notify them in law, or their law at least!

Ring his Insurers tommorow and ask them if they accept liability and can handle the claim directly.

I'd wait until mid afternoon to give him time to report it to them.

You do have to inform them and future insurers you approach for quotes.

It is the incident on your history that may affect your premium, and not a lot you can do about that!

The problem won't arise till you renew.

You could do some dummy quotes online with and without the claim on your record and see what difference it is making to the premium.
