Hi, I have my mother-in-laws Kindle this weekend so that I can put some books on it for her.
However, when I plug it into my PC it does not recognise it.
It shows it is charging via the USB lead so I don't think the lead is faulty.
I know once the lead is connected is when you are supposed to switch on the Kindle so the PC "sees" it but here is the problem.
The Kindle turns on fine when the lead is not in it but will not switch on if the lead is in???
Is this a faulty Kindle? I believe it is approximately one month old.
Thanks.

PS I have tried it on 2 PCs so don't believe the problem lies there.

EDIT: Also if the Kindle is already on (with the micro part of lead connected to Kindle), as soon as I put the USB end of the lead into the PC, the Kindle switches itself off!

Please help!
Thank you.

Contact amazon, they will probably send out a new unit and get that one collected.

They make more money locking people into the ecosystem than they do on the products themselves.

    Thanks.
She bought it from John Lewis.
We've just been to exchange it so, once the new one has charged, fingers crossed it will work this time!
