Comet faulty TV

We bought a JVC digital TV last Autumn, just prior to Comet going under. The TV then went faulty after approx 4 weeks and doesn't work at all. The Comet administrators aren't helping, neither are JVC - any thoughts about what our rights are?

The administrators are only there to wind up the company accounts and they don't have any legal obligation with regards to goods sold by Comet.
Are JVC saying that there isn't a manufacturers warranty on the TV?
A lot of items were sold by Comet without a warranty in place (they get the items from the manufacturers cheaper if they are supplied like this).
If this is the case then your only real hope is if you paid for the TV with a credit card, in which case you should contact the card issuer and tell them about the problem and state that you wish to persue a "Section 75" claim.

Why should JVC help? They may not have even been paid by Comet, and even if they had you didn't buy it off them.
The administrators would return a few pence in the pound. Your only hope is your card issuer (if applicable).
Didn't all the hype about them going under make you think it probably wasn't a good idea to buy from them?

Comet did not purchase their stock from JVC Europe but directly from the manafacturer and took on all warranty themselves which is why JVC will not help. The administrators will put your claim on the list so you could get a few pennies at most. As stated by shaun from africa your only real hope is if you purchased with a CC.0

How about good customer service and more than likely gaining a customer that will buy one of their products again...
As opposed to now. One that won't touch them with a barge pole or tell friends how good they are. :T
Manufactures need to remember that without people buying their goods from retailers. They will go under.
So need to support people who bought their products.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Most of the JVC sets Comet sold were not even manufactured by JVC, they were just rebadged Vestel sets from Turkey. Same as brands like Bush and Alba.
So if JVC didn't mind accepting the licensing fees for Comet to use their brand then I doubt they are that bothered about helping customers. Otherwise why you let your brand be used on sub standard products.0 -

JVC didn't sell the set, or make any offer of a warranty on a TV that Comet sourced somewhere else in the world.
Why not approach Sony or Samsung to repair it? There is just about as much of link to the customer as there is to JVC Europe.
It's one of the risks dealing with a company that sources their products throughout the world, if they go bust so does the warranty.
As has been said more than once, CC is the only hope.====0 -

It's got JVC name on it.... Clearly as JVC have never sued Comet for abuse of their name/trademark. So there must have had a agreement with them over the use of the name. See the link below for details.
Again its down to good customer service. Nothing more, nothing less.
Interesting to note this.....If you have a faulty JVC TV that was purchased from Comet and you did not purchase it with a Credit Card, please email the details to info@jvc.co.uk and our Service Partner will contact you to help. There is currently a rather large backlog of contacts, so it may take a couple of weeks for them to contact you. We realise this is not ideal, but as these TVs were imported and supported by Comet, we originally had no information or support infrastructure at all for them, and this has had to be set up from scratch, including spare parts supply, software, service manuals, service tools, etc., hence the delays.
linky
Just wonder who the OP contacted at JVC .Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
