Dare say like alot of people,I have a Sainsburys and Tescos cards.......get a bit off your shopping. Iceland is also handy, milk and Bacon etc cheaper.
I see their card says get a Pound for every £25 saved,so if you had a £100 on the card you would get 4quid (assuming they hadnt gone bust offcourse !) BUT if you read the small print,it says something like,I Pound when £25 reached for the first time only.............................so in other words, not worth bothering ?

Think you're misinterpreting it...
Taken from their site:
your Bonus Card
You can save directly onto your Bonus Card. Simply tell the cashier how much money you would like to save and we’ll load it directly onto your Bonus Card for whenever you want to spend it*. Plus, for every £25 you save, we’ll give you £1 absolutely free.0 -
Fair enough, but also from their web site it says....................................Members of the Savings Scheme will receive a £1 Iceland bonus when they reach each savings milestones of £25 for the first time only.....................FOR THE FIRST TIME ONLY...................!!??0

I noticed that as well, but as nobody at Iceland can assure me that any funds are ring-fenced, I'm not going to bother letting them look after my money. Too many people have lost money with failed companies recently. I'm not saying Iceland are in a rocky position, as I have no idea at all about their finances, but it's foolish to take the risk.0

Agreed, what I might have done,is load 25 quid on card, spend it,take me two or three trips to shop to do that, and then load another 25 quid..etc etc....................Re risk, ofcourse it was mainly the Icleand banks that fell over0 -

I trust you are joking.
The Iceland supermarket chain is in no way related to the country Iceland nor to its banks.
Bauger group were than taken over by two Icelandic Banks..................say no more....................
Anyway,we are getting off topic........I'm hoping some sensible folks on here can clear up the Iceland Card query0 -

Feb. 2012
The frozen food chain is being sold by liquidators for the collapsed Icelandic banks Landsbanki and Glitnir.
Malcolm Walker (who founded the company) owns, along with others 23% equity.
Landsbanki owns 67%
Glitnir (another Icelandic bank) owns 10%.
So the frozen food company had quite a lot to do with Icelandic banks.0 -

Just change bonus cards once you get the bonus.0 -

I might have this wrong but I think this means that you only get the £1 once for each saving £25 break.
For instance if you hit £50 you get £2. You then spend a fiver which puts you down to £47. You put another £3 on so you hit £50 again. At that point you don't get another £1 (as you've already hit that bonus point). You'll get the the next £1 bonus when you hit £75.
That seems fair enough (although obviously could be clearer)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
