I would buy extra memory if you are going to use this with Vista. Its a dog below 1 gig.

You're right there - Toshiba have a habit of shipping laptops without enough memory!

When I started my new job at the end of 2005 my boss gave me a Tecra with Windows XP Pro on it, but only 256MB of RAM! It was like watching paint dry. Another 256MB perked it up tremendously, and it seemed even Toshiba cottoned on in the end - most of the online shops were offering free RAM upgrades with Tecras.

In all other respects it's been a brilliant laptop - even though it looks nothing special it seems very robust (it's been better than both the Dells I had before) and is still on it's original battery.

    :)

On 512mb with XP it'd be perfect, plenty fast.

I run a Celeron-M 1.5ghz with 768mb of RAM on Windows XP (my Dell Inspiron 1300) and it flies (after removing the preinstalled Dell rubbish).:D

My only concern with many laptops is whether the inbuilt graphics cards are upto the job with Vista and beyond??
