Many thanks to those of you who have posted helpful and genuine comments. Unfortunately there are always some smart alecs who think that because you drive a particular brand of vehicle you obvioulsy must be rolling in money. The car is 4 yrs old, was not purchased new and quite frankly 'Easymoney' you know absolutely nothing about me or my circumstances. Should I assume from your username, that you have made your money easily? In case you hadn't noticed, we are in a recession and most people I know do not want to spend more money than they have to for any services nowadays. If in your opinion Martin Lewis is quote, "a tight @ RSE" unquote, that is up to you.0

You are quite right to stay clear of BMW dealerships for servicing as they have massive overheads so charge accordingly for service work
When you get the car serviced at a good independent they will do a MOt prep as part of the service
other than that put it thru the test without a check, there's a good chance it will be pass ok0 -
The OP drives a Beamer, they should expect to pay for the name, as thats all they are paying for.
What a bell-end with clearly no credible knowledge of cars & probably little of economics
Here's a 2nd vote for Lewis @ BM Spares in Ards
Likewise, just send it through the test 1st ... they failed mine last week on ... & I quote "some of the amber coating has flaked off your indicators bulbs" :wall::mad:
Needless to say they passed it today :j0 -
Just to clarify. The car was "service inclusive" when purchased, which covers the costs of servicing for 50,00 miles or 5 years, hence the reason it is being serviced by the dealership. I don't really expect that in the period between servicing and MOT (almost 3 months) it is very likely that a fault would develop which might cause an MOT failure, but it is possible. I take the point that it is probably worth taking that chance and will probably do just that.0

Just put the car in for the mot. At four years old and a full service history it should walk it
Just check in the morning your lights all work0 -
That makes him a tight @R5E.

I drive a BMW.
Was cheaper to buy then the ford focus I was looking to buy
Came with 5 years of free servicing as well
Not to mention zero road tax and 58 mpg
Pretty mse to me0 -

In my opinion BMW is just another mass produced car.
If you want real exclusivity buy another of its products; Rolls Royce!
