Gas and electricity meter reader person dodgy!

If the meter reader had no ID, why did you let him in at all?
People who go around impersonating meter readers to steal will have fake ID and probably be extremely presentable!
so why ask for ID if it could be fake?
Love when people (not just the poster I just quoted) say ask for ID, like anyone would know what a G4S or British Gas or Eon or any number of other IDs look like:rotfl: in my last job I had to ask to see ID and the stuff some people tried to show me was amazing, many think a business card is good ID or their works ID, they should all have a state issued ID card so we at least know what one looks like.
And for those that says the meter reader will be happy to wait whilst you phone up and check...yeah right :rotfl:we have heard they need to reach targets, not likely if every other customer rings up.0 -

Once someone checked my ID by ringing the number on my badge and when she got through she asked the person she spoke to "what does he look like?"
As if she thought I had not only managed to fake the ID but also that I had faked the photo as well.
Sometimes even after showing it they still distrust you because of the time of day if its dark, which in the winter can be just after 4 in the afternoon. But as has been mentioned these are the times they want you to attend as they reckon it is the best time to catch people in. With a number of the Must Inspect ones which appear regularly there are a lot of people who can not be got in during the standard 9-5 hours. But even then they can still be illusive even up to the hour of 8 o'clock.0 -

sacsquacco wrote: »My ID is a pretty good one, G4S are at least good at knocking up a passable ID, the number to ring is on it along with a British Gas logo. I get the occasional person testing the number, usually banks or similar places, very rarely the general public phone it. Most people I see know me by now in my usual area s. I dont mind in the slightest if anyone fancys ringing it, I mind more your irritating little rolly things you pepper your posts with. I am always editing my posts, spelling mistakes only. The words "fixed salary" was in my first post
you have targets and don't mind standing waiting whilst someone rings up :rotfl: if a smiley is so irritating to you, I can't beleive you don't mind standing around waiting whilst some old dear rings the number you provide :rotfl:here love ring this number on my fake ID they will tell you I'm the real deal, how daft if you think about it.
Oh and I quoted your original post in my reply, you did not answer the question hence why I said it, the post is there for you to see, post 15 clearly shows what you said, you then went back and edited your post to include the answer :rotfl: you're a strange one.0 -
Refused access brings me to visit, as readers will see you as having something to hide. I agree with regular reads as they can also detect things like faulty meters.
I work 5 days a week and Eon always seem to want to read my meter during the working week! No problem I though as I always submit meter readings to keep them up to date. 18 months later I received a letter saying they are applying to the court to force access into the property to read the meter and that I'll have to pay for any costs and damages/etc!
I rang them up and said "You can come any time between 6pm and 8pm Monday-Friday or ring in advance for access over the weekend to make sure someone is in.". They refused and then left ANOTHER "You were out" on Monday morning!
Eventually had to book a day off work, arranged a time of 10am, and they were knocking at the door at 8am, so they had to wait, but at least they got their meter reading! Now to switch to someone who hopefully knows that a lot of people work between the typical office hours of 9 - 5.0 -

wow, I wonder if the judge would give them a warrant, when you offered them a time to give them access?0 -

sacsquacco wrote: »Sorry sniggings, post 13 was my answer. I ve only had 2 people I think in 13 years from the general public who ve rung up and checked the I.D., Banks etc are much more likely to check as you d expect. We have targets, I always easily reach them as I ve got this job down to a fine art and one of our sections best performers. Its not really the actual silly childish rolly things you insist on inserting for no reason which irritate me, its you personally
check the times, my post is time stamped before your edit, I have no reason to post that you didn't answer my question if you had, but clearly you have a problem with being wrong, hence why you went back and edited your post and then said it was for spelling mistakes, why you are making such a big thing of this I do not know, all I said was you never answered the question, which you hadn't, then you edited it in and started arguing, mate you really need help as starting arguing over this is daft.
And if I irritate you, either don't read my posts or put me on ignore but it's a bit daft starting an argument for no reason with someone, as you say that irritates you.0 -
