Getting really fed up with i-player now!!!!!!!!

Options
My i-player used to work great, I don't have a tv license and download the programs I want to watch via series record.
A few months or so ago, it started playing up. Someone on here said it was due to Adobe Air upgrade and to go back to the previous version of Adobe Air. Which I did and that seemed to cure the problem, until now!!
The last few days it has been acting up again. One minute all the downloaded programs are there, next minute they have gone. There are programs left in the repository, but you can't tell what they are.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling BBC i-player - with the old Adobe Air - several times and it then starts to download my programs again, and the are listed in the downloads, but it seems when I switch off, it loses them all again.
Its driving me nuts, any clues as to what is going on and how can I sort it?

TIA

Its not the adobe air upgrade because i downgraded the whole lot and it still does it. Its the iplayer iteself also.

I run the old version and the programs suddenly appear again. It says its downloading a show, But nothing in the program itself.

When they did the upgrade with the series record i thought at last a program that works and is actually an upgrade.

Seems they have had this issue since November...

Im back to a version thats pre series record. Im sure i have other versions on here somewhere.

I think they messed up playing with the copy protection.

Delete all the downloaded programs before closing it down. Switch series record off.

Perhaps the majority of users on here are licence fee payers and not inclined to assist you in your quest for free TV, lawful though it is.

    I'm going to get flamed now, aren't I :o
Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc

I actually think that was a really nasty thing to say on what is afterall, a moneysaving site.
You know nothing about me or my reasons for not having a licence.
Some of us actually are self employed and work long hours for little money.
I would love to be able to afford/justify the cost of a licence but as I only probably watch, at most, 4/5 programs a week and don't even have a television as I can't afford to have my aerial changed, I cannot afford or justify the expense of a licence for something that I get little use out of.
    Thanks for your input!!

I player has been screwed for months now for the majority, the first problem was an Air issue fixed by rolling back to an old Air versions, then the fix the BBC released didn't work, and by all accounts another problem of unknown origin/cause has since developed, that they can't get to the bottom of.

Added to which, if you look at the BBC I Player help they now appear to have multi platform and browser issues.

I abandoned it ages ago, I check the schedule every few days on the i player website, "favourite" things and then download the Windows Media Player version.

Such a shame because when it works it is fantastic.

Thanks KxMx, yes when it works it is good. I don't really get time to watch much tv at all these days and I tend to forget to download the ones I do want to watch. By the time I realise I've forgotten to download them, they are not available.
I've tried watching them direct from the i-player site but then keep getting told there isn't enough bandwidth and it keeps cutting off.
So much easier when they are just there waiting to be watched.

There seems to be a folder containing some iPlayer settings. If you uninstall it again, I'd be tempted to delete that folder too to see if it resets things for you?

It's under C:\Users\<Username> (or I guess C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>, depending on which version of Windows you have)

    The iplayer folder is called
BBCiPlayerDesktop.<long string of letters and numbers>

and it contains files with names like user.prefs and iplayer.log

I was a bit blunt, sorry. I get a chip on my shoulder when I people are looking for an angle to get something for nothing that is paid for by the rest of us. You're right though, I know nothing about your circumstances. Soz.

Apology accepted and no hard feelings.
I agree with you in a lot of ways, some people I know who could well afford things are always trying to get things which are free and in my mind deprive people that are in need. The greed that people sometimes show in sales where they grab everything that is going cheap then put them on Ebay, where they could have helped people who genuinely would have made use of them.
It is easy to judge though when we don't actually know the circumstances.
For how much I actually watch tv now, I suppose I could easily do without it at all, its just nice when I do get time, to be able to watch something occassionally.
I actually paid for a licence for a long time without having the facility to watch tv because our area had gone digital and my tv couldn't pick up the signal even with a freeview box. It was actually the tv licencing lady who said she did not feel right taking my money for a licence when I couldn't watch tv who persuaded me not to buy one and as it was a luxury I just couldn't afford, I took her advice.
