First Utility Deposit
Hi, I applied to switch to FU and was told that after a credit check I would have to pay a £300 security deposit, refundable after 3 or 6 months - I forget which. I have checked my credit file and it is clean, as it should be. Is this standard practice for FU - they seem to have a few complaints being thrown their way looking at this forum.

Quite normal for them. If you don't like it then don't pay and switch away straight away. First:Utility is quite cheap but only if you stay for 12 months and meet all the terms and conditions exactly....i.e never ever miss a direct debit payment or you will lose the annual discount.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
