Aldi Compost
Options
Has anyone else bought some from Aldi this year? We got some last year and it was good so went to get some more last week.
Just opened it up today and it looks more like bark chippings than compost! I sieved it before i put it in my seed trays and what was left was literally bark chippings. I'm not particularly happy about it.
Each bag is £25 litres and cost £1.99/bag. I'm sure this is more than what they were last year.
Anyone else got some and noticed how poor it looks and feels? Can anyone recommend somewhere else for compost?

I'm finding this more and more with compost, last year got B&Q's verve and it was 80% bark so went back to Asda's. This year bought homebase compost plus as it was half price a bag and that's about 40% bark.
Write to Aldi and complain, I did that last year with B&Q and got a voucher.0 -

Same experience for me. Managed to get a load of Asda compost at half price at the end of the season but need some more now.
I love Hillier's own brand mix of MP compost and John Innes - 2 bags get 3rd free. Can't remember the price because I bought some discounted about a month ago. It is a lovely fine dark compost - no bark!0 -
I like New Horizon Organic Peat Free Compost. I've got some more this year and it's fine. It was on a buy 2, get 1 free offer.0

I've been using J Arthur Bowers multi-purpose with added John Innes this year and it's lovely. Spent all afternoon repotting my containers and I could plunge my hands in with no fear
Far better than some of the own branded stuff I've used in the past from various DIY shops. I can't remember where I got one particularly bad lot from now, but it had bark, stones, plastic, white fungusy-looking stuff, and what looked like strings of Sellotape...it was awful. I had to sieve it in the end and you've never ok seen so much crap left over that got thrown away.0
