    Hmmm
    50,000 points can get me:
Travel - one return flight to Dubai with Virgin Atlantic*
Shopping - £200 Harvey Nichols gift card
Experience - £200 gift card for the fabulous Elemis Spa in London.

    Dubai? - very unlikely
    Harvey Nichols? - equally unlikely
Elemis Spa? - no idea what or where that is, but it seems even less likely than the two above combined.

Don't forget you can sell gift cards on eBay. Not for full price sure but certain retailers are pretty close. And Avios do wine cases and experience tickets etc.

Ignore the examples given on the Amex website, 50,000 MR points can be transferred to 50,000 Avios, Virgin Miles or whatever airline program you want. You don't have to use them to go to Dubai. For wxample, I visit Cyprus fairly regularly for SCUBA diving. 50,000 Avios (with BA) would get me two complete return trips from Heathrow to Larnaca (£30 tax for each return trip) with 10,000 avios left over or one return trip in business class (£40 tax), again with 10,000 points left over. If you take the economy trips as being worth say £200-£250 each and a business class return would normally be around £450-500 then that's not too shabby really.

Alternatively you could pay for a economy flight for say £200 and then use 20,000 avios to upgrade to business for free.

So you've really covered the cost of the cards annual fee without even taking into account the insurance and other elite tier memberships that you get with it.

I'd not keep the card for more than the first year myself but for the 50,000 bonus then it's not a bad deal.
