Should I pay off my stoozing CCs

I have two CCs with a total of 14.5k on them with the money sat in premium bonds. I will probably be looking to move house at the end of the year and hence need a new mortgage.

Do you think I should I pay off and shut down these cards so that I don't effect any mortgage application and if so, when. The only other debt I have is a student loan nearing its end.

If an application was rejected on the basis of the CC debt, is it possible to reason with the mortgage lender that the debt can be paid off imediatly so is not an issue for them?

I am reluctant to pull the cash out of the premium bonds, £200 from two draws is not bad so far.
