Arial Font messed up

I installed a font management prog. a couple of weeks ago which messed up my windows fonts. I managed to restore them, except my arial font has a weird problem in that it can't display currency symbols correctly.
I particular "£" shows as an up-arrow, and "$" shows up as a squirly symbol. This happens in all programs that use arial - in particular web browsers. Funnily enough when the font is bold or italic the symbols show up fine.
Any ideas how I can fix this???
Many thanks
garcia.

To answer my own question:
Turned out the problem was a font called "OBarial" which was being substituted for arial despite the fact that arial was already installed. Got rid of OBarial. Problem solved!0
