Dodgy auction

I sent this email from a spare ebay id.Is this a genuine auction for a Sky HD satellite receiver or is it an auction for the cardboard box it is packed in? Please reply well before the auction ends and include the question and answer in the listing or I will have to wreck the auction by bidding a ridiculous price to prevent someone being conned. I apologise if you are genuine but the auction looks very suspicious. Thanks0

He/she has replied alreadyHi there.
Yes this is for a thomson sky + hd satellite receiver.
The question and answer has not yet appeared on the listing.
Should I wreck the auction if he does not add it to the listing or should I mind my own business and leave it alone?
Edit, on reflection, if he is a scammer, he will just block my ebay id from bidding. I will test it out well before the auction ends and, if I am blocked, I will have to bid with a different id. I don’t have another so I will have to make a new one.
Might I get in trouble with ebay doing this, even if it is a scam? I don’t want to prejudice my own main account.0 -

However he has a new listing up now http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-PSP-box-Accessories-Excellent-condition_W0QQitemZ140116225171QQihZ004QQcategoryZ75556QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Still as clear as mud. What makes it so questionable is the photo of the box, you normally use a photo of the unit.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Possibly if the seller gets suspended then you won't have problems. However, if the seller stays 'active' on ebay then yes you'll have problems. You'll get an NPB against you and an unpaid strike and possibly a negative. You can also be reported for auction interference.
One of our users on here, sorry can't recall which one, got their whole set of ebay accounts closed down when they went on a warning campaign and tried to start warning people about scams. Some buyers themselves that were contacted turned him in for unsolicited mail and his id was pulled, and then later his main ids that were tracked down were also suspended. People don't like to think of themselves as naive and it seems that some buyers, when the scam is pointed out to them, react quite badly and turn on the person warning them out of a sort of embarrassment.
As you have now warned this seller that you intend to interfere with his auctions he can already report you to ebay which might get a warning on your account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As I don’t see myself as a self appointed saviour of those about to be scammed on ebay, I don’t intend to do anything more.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of the auction.0 -
£120 inc shipping it went for , oh dear , wait for feedback to appear i guess0

This is another auction as the original PS3 auction number was 140115354959 and the bidding was at £142.99 with 16 bids.
I took a screenshot of it and just checked it against this new listing which is
Item number: 140116210901,bidding at £88.89 with 5 bids.
He's also taken the list of games off this auction as well.
I'm pretty sure the original one must have got pulled but he's relisted it.The Female of the Species is More Deadlier than the Male.0 -
He's sold one previously http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140113555261&category=62054
Take a look at his sold items http://www.goofbay.co.uk/getSellerLists.html?seller=%09fumes5&Submit=CheckThe Female of the Species is More Deadlier than the Male.0 -
Some buyers themselves that were contacted turned him in for unsolicited mail
That happened to me.
I tried to warn a bidder he was bidding over £250 on a Photograph of an Xbox 360.
I had a snotty warning email from Ebay, I thought my account was about to be suspended.
I did wonder if the bidder was part of the scam pushing the price up until I saw he left a negative for the seller a few days later.
Never again, let the fools be fooled!! not worth trying to help some people.0 -
On this sale he actually sent a PSP with the box

But it is a non working model. In this instance he's been accurate but very naughty.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
