McAFee Personal Firewall hanging(not responding)

Just installed McAFee Personal Firewall from AOL (free to broadband customers) as I thought Windows firewall is perhaps not good enough.

Installation seemed to go ok. Restarted PC , it then asked for access to Java update checker and AOL which I granted. I then clicked on the McAFee icon on bar at bottom so I could go into it and read up a bit more about it.

From that point on it just hangs. Can still access rest of PC albeit very slowly.

I've tried turning off Windows Firewall and restarting PC. Still same problem.

PS. I'm non-wireless so don't have router.

Any ideas please ?

ran Mcafee virtual technician and it says can't find any McAfee products on system so now really confused.

It seems to be kind of working - it is just the view summary screen and options that seem to hang. I can view applications and events when I right click the icon and then go into options from there.

So seems to be doing its job. So I'll leave for the time being and see how I get on.
