AA changing to RAC
Options
I'm going to use club card deals and change to the RAC this year, loyalty doesn't save money.
Anyway last year the AA cost £159.50. This was for roadside relay, home start and complimentary relay plus, for me and Mrs Mac.
As far as I can see, to get the same with the RAC, is solution 4. £166 + £26 for joint. (a lot less with clubcard deals:D )
Anyone disagree, or have I worked it out right?
Thanks
Al Mac

Sorry, not sure, but what I can tell you is that the RAC are much better than the AA. I have had cause to use the RAC a few times and each time they have been polite and efficient and arrived quicker that they claimed they would so really happy, however my new car came with AA cover whichh II was unluckly enough to have to use. The guy who recovered me was rude and did nothing but moan about the fact that he was near the end of his hours so was just going to dump me in teh motorway services and I would have to log another call from there. I managed to pursuade him to take me home as I only lived 2 miles from the services which he did, but then just left my accident damaged car on the driveway. They then refused to take it to teh garage as they claimed that my cover did not include recovery after an accident. Will never use tham again. Few horror stories from female colleagues about being left stranded for ages waiting for them to.0

We changed from the aa to rac last year as the rac offer a no claims discount,
i had to have the wifes car towed home by them after the clutch went and was happy with the service and as it was in the evening the rac man said they would tow it to a garage free if we arrange someone to repair it.0 -
Before you jump to another provider you need to consider a few things!
Think about where do you do most of your motoring and is a vis where you may need recovery, how good is AA/RAC coverage in that area? Where I live we have an RAC guy living on an estate around the corner but having experienced AA service (as it comes with my wifes lease car) we found they only use sub-contractors in this area as the nearest branded van is based almost thirty miles away!
How likely is your car to have a situation that can actually be fixed at the roadside? The more modern the car the more likely anything other than a simple blown tyre or leaking hose will actually lead to a recovery to a dealer!
Just how much is having a particular brand of roadside assistance worth?
Consider the other companies mentioned in Martins article

We've made exactly the same change over - from AA to RAC with clubcard. We applied a couple of months before the AA ran out, and RAC membership started from the date our AA cover expired. The changeover has worked smoothly. Neither of us have yet had need to use either AA or RAC, but its nice to know they are there. To us, living in a rural area, neither AA or RAC are close by and both would be using contractors - probably the same person would actually rescue us either way. Can't go wrong - we get RAC for free!ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0

Just bear in mind that none of the Tesco RAC deals come with HomeStart, if that's important to you - it is to me.
This is the only reason why I've not used my Clubcard vouchers to buy RAC membership.0
