Have had four account numbers since leaving npower

I can't seem to switch from them!

Switched to Coop last December but npower is still sending me bills and have sent me a total of four different account numbers now. They also send bills labeled 'final notice' but never send a bill prior to the final ones. And, of course, the final ones have no meter readings or payment history listed on them. Plus, I can't even add them to my online account since it says they are already on an account - but are not.

Anyone else had this problem? Coop even has my meter readings for three months now but npower keeps sending me new bills regardless.

One of these I got a 'final reading' and then a day after that I got a letter from a credit collection agency!

Have you spoken to nPower to ask for an explanation of anything relating to their charges you don't understand?

Much better than anyone here trying to second guess the reasons.

I'm not surprised they have referred the matter to a debt collector if you have ignored a final demand they sent you.
I suggest you check your credit history files too - I wouldn't be surprised adverse entries haven't been added to those either based on what you have said.

I can't reach npower! No one ever answers on their phone number and if I try to use their complaint form it says they don't have a record of me and want me to phone the above number.

I'm a diligent bill payer and they are the ones sending me 'your final reminder' notices without ever having sent me a prior bill nor actually telling me exactly what the bill is for. Does everyone just pay random bills that have no detailed explanation? Also, those credit collection agency letters come within days of this rubbish final notice... Sure, I could just pay the bills site unseen, but that's not going to happen.

There is plenty of recent evidence on this site that n'powers billing system is a shambles that is probably due to a software upgrade

Forget the phone & online system, WRITE a letter headed Complaint, with this in play all demands for payments. phantom or real, should cease till n'power have resolved your problem, which they must do inside a 56 day window before you go to the Ombudsman

    Hi ccbrowning,

That does sound odd! Let me take a look into this for you and see what's happened?

Just pop me over the details to forumresponse@npower.com and I can get onto this.

    Best wishes,

    Adam
