Battery health

I've a 15 macbook pro that I've been using it for 7 months. Today I've looked at the battery cycle and battery health. I've used 49 cycles and the battery health is 96%. Is that normal? I hardly use my laptop unplugged. That's why everyday, I disconnect the charging cable and let the battery percentage drop to 90%. Then I again connect the charging cable. Also, I discharge the battery fully every 3/4 months.
I don't want to use the battery all the time as I heard it will decrease it's shelf-life. I want to extend it's shelf-life for as much as possible.
Is my battery usage affecting it's capacity?

You'll get 15 different and contradictory answers to this.
In my experience, the best way to prolong battery life is to use it - charge it up fully and drain it every couple of days. Running your laptop plugged in all the time degrades battery life, so does using part of the charge then topping it back up on a regular basis.
For the record, I'm currently using a Dell laptop with a three year old battery which works as well as it did new (about 3 hrs running time per charge) and must have been through well over 1000 cycles.
My wife (who operates a similar regime) is getting equally good performance from her 2 year old Toshiba, but junior (who does her own thing) pretty much has to run plugged in now because her 2 year old battery is knackered.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0
