ideas for novelty birth announcements?

when my son was born 2 years ago I sent out messages in a (baby's) bottle announcing the birth and am now looking for a different novelty idea for birth announcements as my second baby is due in August. I saw "it's a girl/boy" sweets some time ago in a local shop but they no longer sell them and I cannot track them down on the internet. Any ideas would be gratefully received!
Thanks

I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can have LoveHearts customised with your message (with a minimum order?) - perhaps worth looking into? Especially if they could do little packets in pink/blue? Good luck

What about the party favours (bomboniere) usually for weddings and christenings but I'm sure they could be addapted for birth announcements...
Pink or blue tulle (circle) material obviously for the sex of the baby
Instead of sugared almonds you could put in some other tasty treat whether it be hard boiled sweets or individually wrapped chocolate.
& the little tag that sticks out with (wedding date): Jenny & Darren

Could instead say something like: Chloe Louise Smith

My wife made her own from scratch for her sisters wedding and my neice's christening.. THEY ARE FIDDLY but if you have an artistic creative streak I'm sure you'll be fine or just get a professional to make them for you JOB DONECARPE DIEMaut viam inveniam aut faciamBe sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour0
