Hello,
I would like to buy an MP3 player and my budget is about £50. The thing is I have no idea about size etc. How many songs is 1GB?? Can I get a good MP3 player for my budget, and if so, any recommendations? I would rather not buy an Ipod. Any help would be much appreciated!!
Thanks,
Sarah

The amount of songs you can fit into the space all depends on the rate it's been encoded at. As a rough rule, you're about 1Mb / 1 minute of song, unless it's been encoded at a silly rate (which is worthless for an MP3 player).
So, lets assume it's around 1Mb / minute. If your average song is around 4 minutes - then thats 4mb / song. And assuming 1GB is appx 1000 Mb (it's actually more) then you'd get around 250 songs on there.
I have a 4gb iPod Mini and I get around 1000 songs on there, give or take. So that should give you an idea. Why are you steering clear of ipods? They are ace! :cool:Throwing acid is bad.... in some peoples eyes...0 -
You can get a Shuffle for about £50, I bought one for my Mum for Christmas, they're great.0
