Breaks

Hi, how many breaks and how long for if I work a 12 hour shift?
Not getting breaks at work when I complain the manager just ignores me. :mad:

    Unless your contract states different and you are over 18 then its 20 minutes for 12 hours work (Unpaid).

    Its 20 minutes for every 6 hours PLUS worked
    Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked

    Is it not, so you only get one break of 20 minutes and thats it even if you say worked 18 hours?

    I would have thought you were entitled to 2 x 20 minutes minimum?

    I would expect the employer to be reasonable and flexible re comfort breaks for those individuals working extended shifts - there is no compulsion to provide under WTR's.

    Well I never....I must have misread that. To be fair 20 minutes is ok for 6 hours (just ok) but more than that it should be more.

    Yes, 20 mins once you work 6 hours. That's it.

    Try working in Afghanistan for 12 hours a day, rarely getting a break and NO day off for 7 months. :o

    Have I got this right if you work a 12 hour shift your only entitled to a 20 min break same as someone who works a 6 hour shift? That can't be right surely

    You have to work over 6 hours to be entitled to the 20 mins off.
