Mobile not working after spin in the washing machine but have insurance

I was wondering if I could run this past anyone that can help.

My phone is no longer working after being stupidly put in the washing machine via back pocket of trousers.

I am with affordablemobiles.com insurance but wondering if I can claim for this or what can be suggested I do?

Is accidental damage included on your policy?
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Just has proper look and it seems to...

    What am I covered for?
This policy covers your mobile phone in the event of Theft, Accidental Damage and Mechanical Breakdown. There are some things this policy does not cover, brief details are provided at the bottom of this document but full details are available in the policy documentation available on the website

I was just wondering if there was anything to be aware of. I've never claimed before and have heard of stories of people being refused.

Does the policy mention Citymain? If so, search the forum for Citymain

48 hour notice condition for claims
  • Yes, it's cityclaim.

That link doesn't seem to work but will phone them tomorrow.

I just hope they wil repair/replace even though it was a stupid mistake - is it likely the will?

If accidental, rather than deliberate, then you are covered - but it will be a refurb handset AND you will have to pay an excess too.
  • Ok, thank you for clearing things up everyone.

It's worth claiming as only had it less than a month.

    Thanks again.

They often try and deny the claim due to you acting negligently, if they do come back for advice
