                    Hi everyone.
I'm a long time lurker.
My God son has been suspended from work with no reason given.
He rang HR. and they informed him that it was something a supervisor heard him comment on, he has no idea what that could be.
The branch manager has just rang him to ask him to come in on Sunday for a meeting and that he doesn't need a union rep to be with him. It will be just him and her to hear his side of the story. If he doesn't attend they will stop his pay whilst still suspended. Can anyone advise?
Thanks.

Well, he needs to attend the meeting.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

It's the refusal to allow union representation that is worrying him. Different websites offer conflicting information. He will be attending.

You only have the right to a union representative at a disciplinary hearing and not an investigative meeting.
He really must go to the meeting.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

It doesn't sound like a disciplinary but an investigatory meeting where there is no allowance for a union rep.
If it gets to a disciplinary then yes he is allowed a union rep or another employeeDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0

Normal terms of suspension are, be available during woring hours and comply with reasonable requests to attend meetings.
No right to have rep however if local policy permits then take one (assuming investigatory).Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

He will be attending the meeting. Just needed to know if it was wise without union assistance.
 Thanks.0

They did say it was an investigation. If they try to go down the disciplinary route what should he do. She said it was just to hear his version of events yet he doesn't know why he's been suspended.0

He needs to contact his union to let them know that he's been suspended pending an investigation. If they go ahead with a disciplinary meeting then he will be able to take a union rep with him.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

That is just scare-mongering. Suspension in itself is a neutral act and may not mean they are looking to be rid of him.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
