Can my husband clain jsa without doing a joint claim with me? He has just been dissmissed after 30 years. I work part time under 16 hrs a week, but if he's does a joint claim my money will be taken from it anyway! So seems a little pointless claiming. Also if he gets contribution based jsa, is it means tested?

If he has the right NI contributions he can claim JSA on his own and your income nor savings won't effect the claimable amount.
This only lasts for 6 months, after which they do.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -
Yes, he can claim JSA CONTS ONLY and it won't involve you at all and its not means tested.
Is there a mortgage?
Do you have total savings of £16,000 or more? How about £6000 or more?
Do either of you get DLA?
How much do you earn a week?
Are there any children?0 -
Yes he can claim CB JSA, what do you mean by dismissed? If you mean sacked he could end up with a sanction on his claim. Do you need to claim help with rent or council tax? Have you any children?0

Looking at your other thread, I see you have a child.
In which case he could claim JSA C
and YOU could claim JSA IB
That way, if he does get sanctioned you will have your claim to JSA IB to fall back on. Unless you earn more than £111.45 ( or £121.45?) per week? In which case you prolly won't get JSA IB.
If he doesn't get sanctioned, you can choose then to close your claim and he can either carry on on JSA C (£71) or he can complete JSA3 to get the JSA IB added if its worth it.0 -

Thanks for all your help.
I think I am going to cancel the claim. My employer said I can do overtime to take me up to 24 per week and I will see if we can claim working tax credits in April and hope husband finds another job and I will look for something full time.0 -
If the claim is in your name, fair enough cancel it. And he should claim JSA C
But if it is in his name, he should continue with it (maybe phone up to withdraw the JSA IB part of it) to see if he gets JSA C on his own.0
