Just wondering if anyone has any views or knowledge about the Loft Shop
Was going to order a roof window but then found out it had gone into administration in 2011, and is now trading just from one outlet, so wanted to know if anyone had used them and how good are they before sending them any money

Nobody used this shop ???
Would like to order but a bit wary unless somebody gives it good reviews0 -
I used them a few years ago to buy a roof dome and the service was fine.. Can't really say anymore Joinaman.. Pay with a visa so you get the back up protection.0

Thanks for the reply Leveller
Will give them a try, always use a credit card so fingers crossed0 -
What make/sort of roof light are you looking for?0

Looking for a cheap velux type roof window size around 550 x780, but not critical what size it is
gunna be fitted in a store room in the roof, so wants to be double glazed, but nothing fancy
Was looking at a "Luctis"? type on loft shop, centre pivot, etc, as per velux, but on offer at £69 + £39 for flashing + vat, so much cheaper than Velux/Colt Roto/Keylite
Client wants a pivot so they can still clean it
If you know anywhere else to go for a cheap roof light , would be much appreciated0 -
I've only ever fitted Velux,Colt and Fakro.
£69-00 +vat + flashing is a good deal.Doesn't seem to have a 20 yr guarantee like Fakro.I would spend a few more £ and get a Fakro or Velux, its not worth the possible future grief and you should be able to get a Fakro cheaper than the Loft shop price.
The old saying goes "Buy cheap and buy twice" which in general is true.0 -
Thanks Leveller
Agree with what you say, have only Velux on my own conversion, but this client has a very tight rectum
Have shown him various makes and prices, but seems he has problems opening his wallet, plus he is at least 70 years old, so will not need a long guarantee.
He was originally going to fit the cheap single glazed skylight from Screwfix, till he realised it can't be cleaned
Will ask him again, but will probably go for the loft shop one and state that no guarantee is given with this
Thanks again0
