Can't now return battery through International mail

Any thoughts here please? Needed a new battery for my Dell laptop. Dell wanted a lot of money so looked up Laptop Battery Shop. The site indicated that the battery was genuine and at half the price went for it.
Battery duly arrived but didn't work. After many emails, taking pictures etc the company agreed to send me another, after getting the faulty product back. Here is where the next problem arose. The battery came from Hong Kong and this is where the company are based. Absolutely no indication of this at all on their website. Off to the post office I go as instructed only to find out that since 14 January 2013 the battery comes under the transportation of dangerous googs act and can not be posted. Prosecution threats etc if you avoid full custom disclosure.
So can not return the product and guess what Laptop Battery shop don't want to know.
Paid on credit card and may have recourse here but they asked for expert report saying battery does not work. Expert wants £45 which is more than battery cost.
Where do I go from here?
Thanks

There is nothing on the site that says it is from Hong Kong but the poor english, the terrible site, the pricing and everything else screams that it is. Also, never trust a company that's website is breaking the law by not disclosing who they are. Their "uk address" is actually Big Yellow Storage.

The domain name is registered correctly to the Hong Kong company http://whois.domaintools.com/laptopbatteryshop.co.uk - it is another thing to check with these types of sites (in case everything else doesnt tell you).

Ultimately it is not their fault that the law has changed to prevent postage. Does the same apply to couriers? It may be a route but again may cost more than the battery is worth.

Of cause you could offer to return it to their UK Warehouse as per the address on their site but I am sure for some reason they will say that is unacceptable

eBay is the place for laptop batteries - lots of UK based suppliers in case it goes horribly wrong. I use a place on eBay 10 minutes from my doorstep. :)

However lots of ebay merchants claim to be UK based when they're actually in China. Massively annoying when it happens to you and there's a problem.

So you need to source a courier.

Well to claim via CC for faulty goods you need to return them. Via a method that proves return of goods.

The cost is the issue. Foreign companies need to respond to the change in customs requirements. I have suggested a courier to which they have ignored.
    Thanks anyway.
