Bank deposited money in my account after enquiring about a loan without my consent...

Yeah ok maybe I should of been clearer in the first place that I have been out of pocket.
At the time I was only 18 and just wanted it sorted that I didn't have the loan as it was just an enquiry, I didn't understand much about finance ect all I knew was I couldn't really afford the loan. I thought it had been sorted out until recently when I actually realised how much I had paid back. Upon checking the statements it appears that I am in fact out of pocket..... Thank you for your advice I am sure I will get it sorted out as it was less than 6 years ago and I have now found the statements regarding it....if not I will just have to put it down as one of life's lessons......0 -
I should think a well worded letter should see you get your refund plus a bit on top for your hassle!
For the sake of £250+ it is worth firing off a letter or two! Especially now you have found the proof.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
At the age of 7 I'd have known if somebody had nicked 5p out of my money box.At the time I was only 18
At 18 you ignored £200+ vanishing from your bank account.0 -
I'm a bit confused by the chain of events. If you found yourself unexpectedly overdrawn by over £200 surely you would get a statement to find out why? Upon seeing the error relating to the loan amounts, you would then raise the issue with the bank immediately. Being "only 18" is hardly a reason not to have sorted this at the time.0

After writing to the bank complaining about this they have offered me 'a goodwill gesture' of nearly £500, they have treated it as a PPI claim so thanks to those of you that helped

How can they treat it as a PPI claim when there was no PPI?0
