What can we be doing whilst waiting for completion?

Hi, we are first time buyers and have had an offer accepted on a property. Solicitors have been instructed and we know valuation is happening on Tuesday. There is no chain and they expect completion to be within the next 4-6 weeks.
Is there anything we need to be doing in the meantime, or do we just wait? We are both living at home at the moment and have essentials purchased.
Thanks

Start packing what you want to take with you. Other than that, relax.0

Avoid doing anything apart from dealing with correspondence from your solicitor. Specifically, don't order sofas or anything until you have exchanged and don't buy anything on credit until you have completed.
Make sure you read and diary meters as the very first act after you get key.You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
Be prepared for it to take longer than that, and avoid committing to moving expenses (e.g. removal vans, new bathroom suites) until you've exchanged contracts.Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.0

Start making lists of anything you get through the post you're going to need to change the address on, and tracking down contact details/reference numbers to do so while you've got easy access to stuff like the internet. I've always found that having a list just to work through when I move and get the phoneline on really cuts down on a lot of hassle.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I'm in the same as you at the moment, so this weekend we are de cluttering. I've already written many lists, one with who to notify and whether by email or phone, packing tips, collecting boxes. I refuse to pack anything until we have exchanged.0

Fantastic, thanks everyone!0

We are coming to the end of the process and are completing next Friday.
We have not and cannot even think of packing as of yet. We got about 5 months worth of work ahead of us to get the house gutted and renovated.
All the luck and remember not to pack the kettle away. YOU WILL NEED IT !!!!
Good luck0 -
Kettle, toilet rolls and beds up, the biggest priority in my books! Oh and a takeaway menu or thinking in advance where to eat from, no cooking will be done on day 1.0

Thanks all - such simple things that I've not even thought of!0

once exchanged book in broadband, phone etc as often you have to wait a few weeks to get these so the earlier the better0
