New car delivery charge

Hi, hope someone can help. I bought a car last week which I pick up today. During negotiations with dealer they verbally assured me they don't add on delivery or admin charges and said that other dealers do this for pure profit. The negotiations carried on and we agreed on a bottom line price. I looked at my order today and I can see they have applied£500 delivery charges (even though they said they did not do this plus I settled on a car already at the dealership). Should I go back and ask them to remove it or is it too late as I signed the 'new vehicle order'? Thanks

They probably referred to local delivery to your place being a naughty extra. Most new cars have (sometimes substantial) delivery charge on top of the cost, unless you want to take advantage of the few who let you factory collect.

New cars haven't had a delivery charge for years, the only thing I nearly bought recently on wheels was a caravan.
When they said it was a £599 delivery charge I walked.

    Maybe you misunderstood?

£5000 for the car, No extra delivery charges what you see is what you pay no EXTRA delivery charges etc. Its £5000

They have included the delivery charges etc into the £5000 figure just to balance their books.
Added £500 delivery because the office says they must then discount the car £500 to compensate.

If your paying the agreed price then the figures are for their use.

When buying a tin of beans or a toilet roll from the supermarket do you need to know their costs to deliver it and stock it onto the shelves? Not really because the price you see if the price you pay.

Even though the till may add VAT onto some items. This is essentially the same.
Add VAT onto the toilet rolls but its still the same price as advertised on the shelf.

Yeah, it's not entirely clear whether you're paying £500 more, or whether they're just saying the headline price includes this charge?

All new car prices include delivery charge, on invoices it is usually stripped out as the invoice needs itemising for VAT purposes as not all new car costs are vattable.

ALL new cars have a delivery charge. It may well be built in to any advertised price, but there almost inevitably be a separate delivery charge in there somewhere.

So you basically lost out on a purchase because you dont understand that there is a cost involved in moving items about?

I guess you're disgusted when you try to buy something off ebay and - god forbid - you have to pay to get it delivered?
