out of the country

hi there,
I currently live in turkey and I am looking at returning to the uk soon.
I have lived here for just 20 months.
when I return to the uk will I have lost my NCB. I read today on a forum that if you let your insurance lapse for 4 years you will lose your NCB but not if its under the 4 years.

any help on this topic or links would be much appreciated.

many thanks in advance.

Most insurers will only accept NCD that is 2 years old. Co-op used to be 3, I'm nor sure if it still is.

Some will accept NCD from foreign countries so assuming you've been driving whilst youre out in turkey then get your current insurer to write a letter confirming how many years you have been claims free. In normal British style, it will need to be done in English (and obviously on headed paper)

    No need for this.

If your old NCD is less than 2 years old you have no problem using it on a new policy.

Absolutely, I was more meaning that if it goes over the 2 years given the OP says they've been abroad for 20 months and will be coming back "soon" which may result in it actually being over the 2 years by the time they are here and have a vehicle to insurer again etc
