Car insurance between sale and purchase
Options
Hi guys
I'm buying a brand new car and found if i go for part-exchange route i get very less value for my current car. So i'm selling privately and buying new car via online broker to get best price on the new car and few quids more on the sale.
What's the best way to manage my car-insurance if there is a gap between selling and getting the new car delivered. Do you know if i can pause car insurance for few days and move it to my new car? If i cancel my current insurance i reckon i lose this years NCB so don't want to do that. What's my best option?
cheers!

Ask them if they will cover both cars for a week or two.
If not sell it on the day or the day before you get the new car.
If you leave the insurance on the old car, Then you wont have any no claims to use on the new one.
Upto 2 weeks you maybe OK. But longer than that. You may need short term insurance which isnt cheap. May cost more than the dealer offers as a part exhange.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Why don't you just ring and ask them?
This sort of situation isn't uncommon but every company will have a different policy on what they'll do.
