MONEY MORAL DILEMMA: Should Victor use his local pharmacist?

The pharmacist in the supermarket is qualified the same as in the local chemist. They are both qualified pharmacists. Get prescriptions from the local one and only get anything from the supermarket if it is actually cheaper.
Thats the way I do it and generally its not even worth the treck to the supermarket-you get your treatment promptly locally and you dont get there and find no pharmacist because the pharmacies in the supermarkets are often not open as long s the store in general. I tried this a few times but found the pharmacy closed. Stay local.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Victor should definitely use his local pharmacy.
Ours has been invaluable for advice. My dad had a triple bypass a few years back and immediately developed a constant dry cough. His cardiac specialists & GPs couldn't understand why he was coughing, so for TWO YEARS he took cough mixture several times a day which he bought from Sainsburys.
One day, when picking up a prescription from our local pharmacist, he mentioned this persistant cough. The pharmacist looked at all the drugs he was prescribed and immediately diagnosed the cough as a side-effect of a blood-pressure tablet. He stopped taking the tablets (which was OKed by his doctor) and the cough vanished.
I have also been given prescription drugs 'in advance' when my doctors have been late in sending the completed scripts to the pharmacist. This is because our pharmacist knows the local people on a personal level and I'm sure I wouldn't be given the same privaleges at Sainsburys (jobs-worth and all that).
If we can afford the few extra pence to use our local shops (remember the cost of petrol should be added to the expense of shopping at big supermarkets) it would keep our local shopping areas alive and much more interesting, rather than every town looking exactly the same as another.0
