SWORN - declaring to DVLA that the car has been scrapped?

isn't it one of the sections on the logbook?0

Have you scrapped the car? if so you should have got an end of life cert off the scrappy.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

SORN is for cars that are being kept in (mostly) one piece but not used or kept on the road but might be at some point in the future.
There is a separate section of the logbook for scrapping. Section 9 (V5C/3) on the current-style logbook.0 -
In the absence of a log book, just inform the DVLA by letter. As already said, you will need to include a certificate of destruction from the scrappy.0

I've f&*^£$g scrapped my f%$%&*g car - that's the way to do a SWORNIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

You dont SORN a scrapped car. As mentioned above you fill in the section that its been scrapped and send it off to Swansea.
Did you scrap it yourself?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
As far as I know you don't even have to inform the DVLA anymore, when you scrap your car you get an end of life cert, this is computer generated and is linked up to their system.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

There is no longer a tick box on the V5 to show you've scrapped your car. DVLA did away with this hoping to force people to go to the proper scrappies instead. They then said that you would have to declare it sorn for life if you broke the vehicle yourself.
I've no idea where you lot are getting this section on the V5 from...
Anyhow, a FOI request (or three - they don't like giving this stuff away easily) has turned up some interesting information. You can still write to them and declare that you no longer have the vehicle as you've dismantled it. They won't record it as destroyed BUT they will remove you as the registered keeper and acknowledge that you are no longer responsible for it.0 -
I would sent it back as saying its been exported.
Partially true, The scrap metal is probably on its way to China.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

It's an offence to declare a car exported that hasn't been - believe me I asked a lot of questions in my FOI request. They'd have to be able to prove otherwise but is it worth chancing it?
It's easier to simply be truthful and tell them you no longer have the vehicle due to dismantling. It's honest, the truth and they will remove your details as the registered keeper.0
