Hotel wins for partners

This is probably more a question the ladies on here can answer. If your partner won a competition to stay in a nice hotel over a couple of days and they used it for your anniversary or birthday would you think they were being tight fisted? Not buying you anything but technically giving you something free?

I'd just see it as a present & be glad of it :-)
Hard times we live in & presents are hard to find for many of us.0 -
Not at all0

It would be appreciated and probably a better class hotel than we normaaly stay at.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

If my partner even entered for something we could do together I would go into shock! Haha, I won a hotel stay last year but all he did was moan about what money we'd spend (which would have been train fares!) - he's not very adventurous!
Go for it, spoil your partnerThanks to all posters :A0 -
I'd be grateful - after all the money he would normally spend on a prezzie could be used for a better meal or a spa treatment etcproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I dont see anything wrong with it at all plus I expect that you may have to pay for drinks plus maybe a meal in the hotel depending on the win . Plus whatever you did in the day may cost, getting to the place may cost, it all adds up even though the main part is free.
Perhaps take a few rose petals and sprinkle on her pillow etc just to show you had also put some thought into planning the trip, a nice card also etc0 -
Definitely not mean, I've won a few breaks and we always try to tie them in with Birthdays, anniversaries etc.
I won a really nice break last year and we used it for our 25th anniversary, it was only b&b so we splurged on an expensive meal in one of their restaurants to treat ourselves.
It still feels like an indulgence and I think it can feel even nicer to sit there and think I've really won this:)0 -
i would be happy that he thought of using it for my birthday/our anniversary
its the thought that counts at the end of the day, someone could spend thousands on a present for you but if they put no thought into it, its worthless IMO0 -
Thank you for the replies. I must add that I haven't won a hotel stay competition but if I did it's good to hear that it wouldn't be classed as cheap.0
