Burning audio CD's

Hi all

I'm trying to burn an audio CD for use in the car using WMP v11
I've dragged the tracks to the burn pane, but the Start Burn button is still greyed out. All the times are correct (length of track) as far as I can see, and I have left the space for the 2 second gap that WMP puts between each track.
The system recognises I have a CD/DVD burner installed but won't let me burn.

Anyone any ideas?

Right Click on the drive that your CD is in, then click on Properties, then click on Recording .... Is Enable CD Recording on this Drive ticked? If it isn't, that could be the reason why!

    Hope this helps!

They are in a variety of formats - MP3 and WMA.
I'm trying to burn them so I can play them on the car stereo which is old but still works(!)

I do, but I'm used to using WMP.

  • Your car CD player probably won't play MP3 or WMA files.

These files appear as data files on a disc, not as audio files.

You will have to convert them to .WAV.

Not necessarily. The program should convert the files in to an Audio CD.

Rather than doing your head in trying to get WMP to do what you want, I suggest you use Nero.

Choose 'Make an Audio CD', drop the files in and..... there you are.

    Up to you.

I used Nero last night and it worked first time.
Still can't work out why WMP won't burn, though..........

Checked that last night. It is ticked, with what appears to be the default settings. I tried unticking it and trying again, but still no joy, so I've put the tick back.

    Anyone?

Sorry to resurrect this one, but the plot thickens.

Tried to burn another couple of CD's using WMP11 last night and now got a real oddity (ended up using Nero again).
WMP is telling me to connect a device! It was already built in when the computer was made and has been since!!!!!

Everything else recognises it, and WMP will play tracks from it, just not burn to it.

    Anyone care to offer enlightenment?
