How will I find this out. I've been with them since I moved here which is about 6 years.

If you have been with them since you have moved then your over your 12 month contract. Call them asap and explain your having to cut your spending.
  • Baffles me why people pay for anything beyond basic freeview channels, all the sports can be streamed or go to the pub (drink coke if you want like me). Most movies are cheaper at the cinema than SBO and you get to see them when they come out.

Streaming is generally terrible quality. Coke isn't cheap in a pub - infact probably one of the most expensive places you can buy it.
And I don't really like going to the cinema.

And this is relevant to this thread how?

So they majically got your bank details and took money from you?

The more likely scenario is that you went on their website and entered your card details and agreed to them taking a fee.

If you want advice start your own thread so that you don't derail the OPs and we will happily explain to you how to get your money back.

Really? A drink for 2 for every football match I watch on Sky with my wife. Lets be really generous and say £1 per drink (more likely at least £2 each even for coke), £2 per match (one drink each only!). Sky/ESPN show in excess of 150 matches per season if you include EPL, FA Cup, CL, and lower league games. That's a minimum of £300 (more likely £600+) just to watch football at the pub, not including travel and maybe food. Then there's the Scottish and Irish football matches, cricket, F1, golf (very rarely shown in pubs). I pay £16 a month for Sky Sports and £10 pm for ESPN (six months only as I don't have it in the summer and then get 3 months free when I start it again). £600 per year pays for my entire Sky package, including my line rental and broadband!

And cinema cheaper than SBO? Please tell me which cinema you go to as I'm lucky if I can find an adult ticket for less than £7 in any of the cinemas near me - and thats for one person to see one film once only! I've been to the cinema three times recently (Skyfall - 3 tickets, Hobbitt - 2 tickets, Hitchcock - 2 tickets). Total cost of tickets? over £50!. I believe new films are £3.99 on SBO for 2 or 3 days access, unlimited viewing in that time? Sky Movies would be £8 pm for me (as I have Sky Sports). Love Film is £10pm for 2 DVD and unlimited streaming package.

And as for streaming IMO the free sites aren't strictly legit while the legit sites charge anyway... and as someone else said, the picture quality is usually terrible, not to mention requiring a chargable upgrade to my broadband package (which in itself would cost more per month than I pay for Sky Sports, thus defeating the object!)

And you get to watch it in your home with no rowdy pub goers interrupting your viewing.

Im all for going to the pub to watch a match but it can get expensive.
