get the installation cd out, boot PC and go into maintenance mode. go to a dos prompt and type SFC /SCANNOW
after it is finished i would do the above again but in graphics mode. once all is working i would install another browser (because i am paranoid and your existing browser may be infected.) then use web av scanners like trend and kapersky and possibly a few other free web ones. do not rely one just using 1 scan, use 1 scan from many companies.
write down the path and file names of any reoccurring errors as these files may need to be deleted and replaced via linux boot cd
remember to install service pack, or reapply them.
